The beautiful fjord system of Prince Christian Sound is a waterway in southern Greenland that connects the Labrador Sea and the Irminger Sea. Sixty miles long and narrows to only 1,500 feet wide at some points. It separates the mainland from the islands of the Cape Farewell Archipelago and is surrounded by steep granite mountains as high as 3,937 feet.

The scenic colonial town of Qaqortoq is easily seen on foot. Walk to the town square with its gorgeous fountain built of Igaliku rocks. Colorful houses encircle the square and Our Saviour's Church, built in 1832, is nearby. There are many works of art that have been chiseled into the rocks at the sculpture park called "Stone and Man," and the local museum full of Nordic artifacts is definitely worth a visit. Another point of interest is the fishing wharf where fresh and dried fish is sold.

You will start your city walk of Qaqortoq from the harbor. Your guide will take you through the town and share historical and personal knowledge about the Inuit culture , old traditions as well as modern traditions and how it is to life in the Arctic region. The walk will pass the harbor and its fishing industry. Your guide will tell you about the outdoor gallery around town, take you to the churches, talk about the school system and the youth. You will end the tour at the town square and see the first fountain made in Greenland . The walk stops at the museum. From here you can, individually without your guide, visit the museum, go shopping, go for a hike or you can go back to your waiting ship with your guide. With a population of 1,600, Narsaq is the youngest town of Greenland and was founded in 1959. The mountain behind the town is full of coveted minerals and is a major attractions for rock pickers and geologists including the rare mineral, Tugtupit which has only been found in one or two places around the world.

Narsaq (meaning The Plain in Greenlandic) is a town known for its colorful wooden houses, where modern living is mixed with ancient traditions. It is the youngest town in Greenland, founded as late as in 1959. Highlights of your walking tour will include the Church of Narsaq, the Narsaq School, the harbor and the museum. The southernmost town in Greenland located at the mouth of the Tasermuit Fjord, Nanortalik shares space with polar bears who live and hunt on the sea outside of town. Vertical cliffs and steep peaks characterize the area around Nanortalik and Ketil Mountain at 6,562 feet has one of the highest climbing walls with Greenland's only natural forest just 25 miles away. The locals are charming and friendly and known for their choir singing, which you may end up hearing.

Bonne Bay and Woody Point are part of the Gros Morne National Park, whose ancient landscape is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bonne Bay has two sections - Inner Bonne Bay and Outer Bonne Bay. Inner Bonne Bay has two arms with wooded coves and beaches. Outer Bonne Bay is the entrance to the Bonne Bay fjord. This bay was carved out approximately 10,000 years ago and is an area full of wildlife - moose and caribou, Arctic hare and ptarmigan.

Your stops will include the Lobster Cove Lighthouse which will introduces you to the first peoples of North America and the history of the local communities including some famous local shipwrecks. Newfoundland's geological history will come alive at Western Brook Pond where you will look inland at the raised fjord that was carved by the sea and filled by the ocean a mere 15,000 years ago. You will have many opportunities to enjoy the scenery - including Gros Morne Mountain - and to learn about the history and geology of our planet together with the fishing culture of Newfoundland and Labrador. Woody Point on the south side of Gros Morne National Park provides easy access (10-minute drive) to the Gros Morne's Discovery Centre (primary interpretation centre). An additional 10-minute drive will take you to the Tablelands which is the landform that gave the park its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation. You will walk on the Tablelands trail looking at its unique physical nature and also looking at the distinctive plants that make this landform home. You will also get a great view of Gros Morne, the mountain the park was named after. A Parks Canada Interpreter will join you at the Tablelands to ensure that you get to hear about this region's unique geology. The Discovery Centre features exhibits that tell the story of the region's many geological highlights. After the morning excursion, you will return to the pier in Woody Point and go back on board the yacht for lunch while the yacht repositions to Norris Point. Guides and buses will then reposition to Norris Point on the north side of the park to meet you for the afternoon excursion. Please note: Guests are advised to wear comfortable walking shoes. This port call will require a tender/Zodiac landing at the community dock. There is a port fee that the Harbour Master will want to discuss with the Ship's Agent. Because of the limited supply of buses in the region (and short distances) passengers shuttle between the various stops using school buses.

Situated at the northern end of the St. Lawrence River, Havre St. Pierre is home to the eerie limestone structures of the Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve. Tourism contributes hugely to the economy of this small town noted for the unique variety of flora and fauna found here such as the rare Mingan Thistle and puffins. Excellent fishing is also found here,made up of snow crab, scallops, lobster and salmon.

A focal point of French culture and one of North America's oldest and most beautiful cities, Quebec City sits above the St. Lawrence River on a rocky spur with 328-foot cliffs. This French-speaking city was established in 1608 with the only fortified city walls remaining in America north of Mexico, and declared a UNESCO World Heritage City. The Old Town is packed with museums, cobblestone streets and mansard-roofed houses begging to be explored. Other historic attractions include the Fairmont Chateau Frontenac, Notre Dame Basilica, Battlefields Park and Terrasse Dufferin.

From here you will have spectacular views of the St Lawrence River, Lower Town, and surrounding countryside. Your route will take you along the Grande-Allée, the Champs-Élysées of Québec lined with quaint shops, sidewalk cafés, and boutiques to the Hôtel du Parlement, an imposing Second Empire-style building overlooking the city. Within minutes of the walled city of Old Quebec are the beautiful pastoral landscapes of Quebec's countryside. A photo stop will be made at the Montmorency Falls where you will enjoy the breathtaking views and see the powerful forces of nature as the water of the Montmorency River roars down the cliff to eventually meet with the St. Lawrence River.
